Ed Ruscha Joe Goode
SIGNED BY ED RUSCHA
RUSCHA, Ed and Joe GOODE. Joe Goode & Edward Ruscha. Newport Beach, CA: Newport Harbor at the Balboa Pavilion Gallery, 1968.
4to.; (32pp); illustrated throughout in color and b&w; photo illustrated wrappers; near fine.
First edition of this scarce catalogue, edition size unknown. Foreword by Mason Williams. Signed on the first free endpaper by Ed Ruscha. Both raised in Oklahoma, Ed Ruscha and Joe Goode were close friends since junior high school. The force in their friendship was probably, also the magnet that drew them together in this exhibition of their work, side by side. This exhibition was a platform in which both artists are seen in through their connection but also as individual artists in their own right.
"I felt right proud when my son, Edward, and friend Joe asked me to write an introduction to the catalogue. I must confess I've never been able to pin either one down long enough to have the true meaning of their art explained. They are masters of the evasive. If no more, this much is certain: these young artists are trail-blazing pioneers of their own thing.” - Much obliged, Dorothy Ruscha, Oklahoma City.
